Fascinated by what makes people tick, Carolyn Boutwell curates her art as such - to tell stories through portraits.
She believes every face reveals a unique truth, so by unmasking an estimable quality in her subjects, she unveils the authentic individual.

In sculpting their likenesses, Carolyn constructs an emotional snapshot of each individual, recreating a bit of their story with an underlying sentiment.

Working primarily in clay, her work leverages a classical style to convey the themes and passions of our modern times. She emphasizes and draws the viewer to these concepts - by intensely focusing on expression and anatomical detail.

Her objective is to make the observer feel deeply - and to ponder the encouraging message in her art.

Her goal is to ultimately challenge, inspire, and compel the viewer to see the world through a hopeful lens.
